with Darren Doherty Australian Keyline
designer and Permaculture teacher

A talk and slideshow on drought proofing and improving the water
holding capacity of the land and productivity of the soil for rural landscapes
Based
on the work of P.A Yeomans (Water For
Every Farm: A Keyline Plan), Keyline Design is a highly practical approach to
increasing the depth and fertility of the soil, while improving its water
holding capacity. Keyline provides drought-proofing for both urban and rural
landscapes. Referencing a 'keypoint' on the
watershed, Keyline Design uses terraces, ponds, tree plantings, and a special
cultivation technique to harmonize agricultural with environmental needs.
For ranchers, farmers, land managers, land owners and anyone interested
in better managing water & land
FREE Beverages and snacks will be served All ages welcome

Permaculture is a holistic approach to land
use design, based on ecological principles and patterns. It aims to create
stable, productive systems that provide for human needs, harmoniously integrating
the land with people. Permaculture principles can be applied to any
environment, at any scale - from dense urban settlements to individual homes,
from farms to entire regions.
This world-recognized, 72-hour course
provides an introduction to Permaculture as set forth by movement founders Bill
Mollison and David Holmgren. Students are invited to bring details of their own
sites or potential sites and explore site-specific Permaculture solutions. The
course covers sustainable living systems for a wide variety of landscapes and
climates.
