As both an organization and a larger movement, The City Repair Project inspires and guides the transformation of the grid infrastructure of the typical American city into a vital social commons. The multidisciplinary nature of City Repair defies categorization. Similar to Permaculture design, it has become a national movement for social and ecological restoration operating in a landscape characterized by isolation and compartmentalization. www.cityrepair.org
Mark Lakeman, Co-Founder or City Repair (www.cityrepair.org) will give a presentation on the City Repair Project. The project takes Fritjof Capra's 'Tipping Point' as a model for paradigm change by intentionally focusing upon intersections in space and time. City Repair is directly reclaiming those intersection points, converting spaces of collision into places of convergence, and opening the field for what automatically happens when people reunite with their Place: everything.

Strategic Actions for a Just
Economy
SAJE
(www.saje.net) is an economic justice,
community development, and popular education center that has been building
economic power for working class people in Los Angeles since 1996.
Over the past ten
years SAJE's winning combination of community organizing, coalition-building,
and grassroots policy has gained significant benefits for the community. Our
accomplishments include creating the nation's first welfare-to-work bank account
and, through the Figueroa Corridor Coalition for Economic Justice, negotiating
the nation's most comprehensive community benefits agreement.
Urban Land Reform is SAJE’s solution to the ever-increasing problem of gentrification and displacement in the Figueroa Corridor.
